This is a knitting pattern, not a finished knitted scarf.

Pattern includes written instructions for the overall project, but the body of the scarf is all charted (no written instructions for that). I've also added videos from YouTube for each technique.

The scarf uses an invisible cast-on, invisible bind-off, slipped edges and is double-knit.

Needle size: 2.0 mm - US 0

Gauge: 32 stitches and 44 rown = 4 inches (knitted flat) or 64 stitches and 44 rows = 4 inches (double knitting)

You will need: Fingering weight Yarn (2,5 – 3,5mm/ US 1 ½ - 4 Needle) around 1300m (1422 yards) that is  650m (711 yards) per color.

Yarn I used:
2 skein SOUL fingering Weight Yarn (PRU YARNS) in color Slight Blue, 400m/100g (438 yards/ 15 oz), (85% Wool 15% Nyon), or a similar weight and yardage in the fiber and color of your choice. (Strickstduschon)

2 skein fingering Weight Yarn (Strickstduschon) in color Marine/4-fach, 410m/100g (448 yards/ 15 oz), (75% New wool superwash 25% Polyamide), or a similar weight and yardage in the fiber and color of your choice.

Finished dimensions: 80 inches (204 cm) long, 6 inches (15 centimeters) wide

Additional materials: 4 Stitch markers, tapestry needle, yarn tension ring. Extra +2 spare 2mm needles (for binding of).

Skill Level: Intermediate

This scarf is dedicated to my brother Sebastian († 2022). He introduced me to anime and the world of Studio Ghibli. Thanks to him, I was able to learn about these beautiful worlds. This scarf is a gift to him.

I started the scarf design with the idea of arranging the films chronologically. After 1/3 of the scarf, I noticed that many of my favorite movies would be in the middle of the scarf and therefore not visible when worn… damn. But since I really liked the part that I had already designed, I kept the existing part and placed my other favorite movies on the other end of the scarf.

Some movies have several images, some only one. At the beginning, I knew immediately what I wanted to draw for which movie, but I quickly noticed that not everything could be displayed in a small pixel field or in two colors. So a lot of ideas were thrown out and other things were drawn instead. But in the end, I’m really proud of the result. Pom Poko’s raccoon dog is one of my favorites.
